Headlights for Minis
Hello Friends,
Marc has requested a headlight tutorial.
I'm afraid I have some bad news for you....The Manufacturer of these beautiful lenses that I use, is no longer in business. I first started using MV products lenses back in my model railroading days of the late 1970's. These lenses were available in many different scales as well as HO.
I acquired many sets and in many different diameters once I discovered that the smaller sizes could be adapted to use with my Minitanks Trucks and Autos.
If you have a source for remaining stocks of this product in France I would not hesitate to purchase as many as possible.
So, here is how I do it.....
1. measure the diameter of the headlight assemble to determine which size lens and drill bit is required.
2.install the headlights on the model or if the headlights are built in, as on modern vehicles go to the next step.
3.very carefully center the drill point on the headlight and carefully drill with light pressure and NOT too deeply, checking the depth occasionally by placing the lens in the bore to see that it is not excessive in depth.
4. once both headlights are drilled to satisfaction and the model is painted to completion then you can install the lenses with a pin point drop of super glue.

Some finished models.....
Re: Headlights for Minis
It's true that your headlights are very realistic.

Bonjour,
Pour votre info, j'utilise des lentilles venant de chez Haxo modèles mais elles ne sont plus disponibles.
Il y a la société Tron models en Italie qui distribue ce type d'accessoires.
ll y a du choix de couleurs et de diamètres.

Re: Headlights for Minis
Hello Friends,
There is another method that I have used on occasions when I did not have the correct diameter lenses available.....
Once you have drilled out the headlight recess, paint the inside of the light recess with silver paint. Once it has dried then place a drop or two of Micro Kristal Kleer into the recess and it will form into a very nice lens when it dries.
